EMU will host U-M Tuesday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Originally scheduled for a March 24 game at home, the Eastern Michigan University baseball team will take on in-state rival the University of Michigan Tuesday, March 17, at Oestrike Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Starting on the mound for EMU is freshman pitcher Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ontario-Ontario Schools). Glover is 1-1 this season in two starts, his lone victory being over Indiana University, March 4.

COMMON THREADS: Common threads between EMU, U-M and MSU are abundant, as current MSU head coach Jake Boss Jr. spent last season at EMU, leading the Eagles to a MAC West Division and MAC Tournament title. Boss Jr. also spent 2004-06 as an assistant coach at U-M. MSU assistant coach Mark Van Ameyde spent last season at EMU as an assistant under Boss Jr. EMU assistant coach Aaron Hepner spent the previous three seasons with U-M, as the Wolverines posted a 131-54 record in Hepner's three years. EMU volunteer assistant coach Dan O'Brien also spent time with both the Wolverines and Spartans, as O'Brien spent 1988-91 in East Lansing as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator before heading to Ann Arbor where he was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for U-M from 1991-95.

LOOKING AHEAD:  After meeting two mid-week games against U-M and MSU, the Eagles open up their Mid-American Conference schedule when they head to Kent, Ohio to meet the Kent State University Golden Flashes, March 20-22. The last time the two squads met was in last year's MAC Tournament title game when EMU claimed a 12-4 victory to earn an NCAA Regional appearance.

STOP, THIEF!:
Last weekend at the UD/WSU Tournament, senior Kyle Rhoad tallied five stolen bases in five attempts. Rhoad has pilfered seven bases this season, putting him 12th on the all time list with 41. He needs four more to pass Scott Willis for 11th all-time.
