Eagles Fall to Michigan in Home Opener

The Eagles take on Michigan State tomorrow at 3:05 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.

The loss puts EMU at 3-14 this season, while U-M improves to 11-5 with the win.

EMU couldn't recover from an eight-run third inning by the Wolverines, as U-M tallied eight runs on five and capitalized on an EMU error to take a commanding 8-0 advantage.
The Eagles put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth, as an RBI single through the right side by freshman Johnny Crooks (Toledo, Ohio-Ottawa Hills) made it an 8-1 game. The Eagles scored one more in the inning to pull within six runs (8-2). Crooks went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss.
But the Wolverine pitching staff held the Eagles in check for the remainder of the game, as U-M pitchers tallied a combined 11 strikeouts to hand EMU the loss.
The Eagles are back in action again at home tomorrow when they take on the Michigan State University Spartans at 3:05 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.
