YPSILANTI
, Mich. The Eastern Michigan University baseball team fell short in its home opener Tuesday night, March 17, at Oestrike Stadium, as the Eagles were upended by the University of Michigan Wolverines, 11-3.

The loss puts EMU at 3-14 this season, while U-M improves to 11-5 with the win.

Freshman Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ont.-Ontario Schools) took the loss for EMU, putting him at 1-2 this season. Brandon Sinnery picked up the win for the Wolverines.

EMU couldn't recover from an eight-run third inning by the Wolverines, as U-M tallied eight runs on five and capitalized on an EMU error to take a commanding 8-0 advantage.

The Eagles put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth, as an RBI single through the right side by freshman Johnny Crooks (Toledo, Ohio-Ottawa Hills) made it an 8-1 game. The Eagles scored one more in the inning to pull within six runs (8-2). Crooks went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss.

But the Wolverine pitching staff held the Eagles in check for the remainder of the game, as U-M pitchers tallied a combined 11 strikeouts to hand EMU the loss.

The Eagles are back in action again at home tomorrow when they take on the Michigan State University Spartans at 3:05 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.
