COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell victim to turnovers, poor shooting, and a blistering-hot Ohio State University team in a 111-60 non-conference loss to the 15th-ranked Buckeyes here Saturday, Dec. 5, in a nationally televised game on ESPNU at Value City Arena.

Ohio State raced out to a 62-25 halftime lead, shooting 64.3 percent (9-of-14) from beyond the three-point arc, and 64.5 percent (20-of-31) from the field while limiting Eastern to just 40 percent (10-of-25) and forcing 17 Eagles' turnovers. Eastern was also hurt in the first half with leading scorer Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) playing just seven minutes because of foul trouble and starting center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) seeing only four minutes of action with a lower leg injury.

That halftime lead was too much to overcome for the Eagles as they fell to 5-3 on the season while Ohio State improved to 7-1.

Bowdry came back in the second half to score all of his game-high 24 points with 10 rebounds, the 11th double-double of his career despite playing just 27 total minutes. Dobbins played under a minute in the second half before heading back to the bench with the leg injury.

Senior guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) added 13 points for the Eagles. Eastern committed 24 turnovers while improving their shooting percentage to 43.3 (23-of-53) for the game.

Ohio State shot 63.3 (38-of-60) from the field for the game and the Buckeyes made 16-of-29 three-point shots for 55.2 percent.

The Buckeyes opened the game on a 5-0 run and increased their lead to 15, 24-9, with 10:17 left in the first half. The hosts went on to build that lead to 37, 62-25, heading into intermission.

The Eagles will be idle until Saturday, Dec. 12, when they host James Madison University in a 7 p.m. game in the Convocation Center.
