Meanwhile, the Mustangs are 3-1 on the year after and have won three straight, including an 86-40 victory over Wright State University Lake Campus, Nov. 14.

A BULLSEYE ON THE MUSTANGS: Monday's, Nov. 16, home opener versus Marygrove College marks the 12th season of EMU women's basketball at the Convocation Center. The Eagles are 9-2 all-time in season openers at the Convo, including winning the last nine home lid lifters dating back to a 79-53 victory over Chicago State University, Nov. 17, 2000. During the winning streak, EMU is winning the home opener by an average of 36 points (EMU 84.9, OPP 36.5).

ALL-TIME AGAINST NON-DIVISION I COMPETITION: Monday's, Nov. 16, contest marks the first regular season meeting between EMU and Marygrove. The Eagles are 12-2 all-time against non-NCAA Division I foes with the last meeting coming against Madonna University, Nov. 22, 2008, at the Convocation Center. That afternoon the Eagles rolled to a 92-38 victory.
EMU and Marygrove hooked up in the lone exhibition game of the 2008-09 campaign, with the Eagles posting a convincing 96-56 win at the Convo, Nov. 9, 2008. The Eagles made 33-of-66 shots from the floor for 50 percent and also connected on 9-of-19 three-point attempts for 47.4 percent. Eastern won the battle of the boards, 48-33.

EMU CLOSING IN ON 100 WINS INSIDE THE CONVOCATION CENTER: Eastern Michigan has racked up a solid home-court advantage inside the friendly confines of the Convocation Center since the doors opened during the 1998-99 campaign. The Green and White have won 68.1 percent of the contests played in the building, racking up a 96-45 mark all time.

WINNING ON THE ROAD TO OPEN A SEASON HAS BEEN A RARITY: Head coach AnnMarie Gilbert's crew did something just seven other EMU squads have done in the program's history – open the season with a road victory. The last time Eastern Michigan won a season-opening contest away from Ypsilanti was 12 years ago against Canisius College. The Green and White cruised to an 86-46 victory in the opening round of the Idaho State University Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho, Nov. 21, 1997. EMU's last season-opening victory over a road opponent on their home court was Nov. 22, 1991, against the University of Akron.

EQUALLING 2008-09 ALREADY: Just one game into the this year's campaign and the Eagles have already equalled their road win-total from the 2008-09 season. EMU's lone victory away from the Convocation Center came in the team's 13th road game, a 56-45 decision over Miami University at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio, Feb. 14, 2009.

MILLER SPREADS HER WINGS IN THE WINDY CITY: Freshman Chenise Miller made her presence felt in her collegiate debut Friday, Nov. 13, against the University of Illinois-Chicago. The Oak Park, Mich. native paced the EMU attack with a team-best 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting. She also hauled down seven rebounds to do with a block in 19 minutes of work off the bench.

SIENA ON THE HORIZON: Eastern Michigan and Siena are meeting for the second time on the hardwood Friday, Nov. 20, in Loudonville, N.Y. Last season in Ypsilanti, The Eagles fell behind by as many as 11 points in the first half, but stormed back to defeat the Saints in overtime, 68-54, Nov. 24, 2008.

ALL-TIME VERSUS THE METRO ATLANTIC ATHLETIC: Eastern is 7-4 all-time versus the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), having played Canisius College (4-2), Marist College (1-0), Niagara University (1-0), Siena College (1-0) and Saint Peter's College (0-2).
The Eagles last road contest against a team from the Edison, N.J. based conference was Dec. 30, 2005, when the Eagles rolled past the Golden Griffins of Canisius, 70-44, at the EMU Convocation Center. That night Ryan Coleman led three Eagles in double figures with 20 points, including connecting on 7-of-16 from the field. Nikki Knapp added 15 points with eight rebounds while Patrice McKinney turned in a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

HITTING FROM LONG RANGE: EMU's women's basketball team has shown it can hit from long range and has for quite a while now. Eastern has made at least one three pointer in the last 217 games, dating back to Jan. 31, 2002. The last time the Eagles did not make one was on Jan. 26, 2002, in a 52-43 road victory over Central Michigan.
