Soccer Shuts Out Buffalo In MAC Home Opener

Detrick and Marsh each score to lead EMU to a 2-0 shutout win over Buffalo in the MAC home opener at Scicluna Field.
The Green and White had tied in three straight matches before Friday, but they got two goals in the second half from Chelsea Detrick and Amanda Marsh while holding the Bulls scoreless to earn their first MAC win of the year.

In the second half, Eastern Michigan held control, gaining several scoring chances before Detrick was able to get her head on a beautiful cross by Carissa Wilson in the 54th minute. Stephanie Janssens also teamed up on the play for her first assist of the season. For Detrick, it was her third goal of the season.
In the 75th minute, Marsh saw an opening and put a boot on a shot from 25 yards out, blowing it past Buffalo keeper, Amy Coron, into the upper right corner of the goal for her second score of the season. It was the highest scoring output for Eastern Michigan since they scored five goals in a win over
It was also the sixth shutout for the Green and White and, for Manville, her fourth of the season and 15th of her career. She made five saves in the win.
