Earns second career honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio.- Senior Eric Alejandro (Pembroke Pines, Fla.-Flanagan) was awarded the Mid-American Conference track Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 13. This is the second time in his career that he was awarded the honor.

Alejandro ran in two individual events and two relays at the 42nd annual Sea Ray Relays, April 11-12. He qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regionals in the 400-meter hurdles for the second week in a row with a time of 52.46 and would have qualified in the 110-meter hurdles, except that the tailwind was just above (4.1) the allowable (4.0) He finished fifth in both the hurdles against some stiff competition, including two nationally ranked individuals in each event. He was also part of the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay and the 4x400-meter relay.

The Eagles will host their one and only home meet, the EMU Twilight, Saturday April 19. The meet will start at 9 a.m. with the field events, while the running events will start at noon.
