RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Eastern Michigan University softball team fell to the University of California-Riverside in doubleheader action this afternoon at Amy Harrison Field. The Highlanders won the first game, 6-2, and the second game by a slim 1-0 margin.  EMU is now 3-6 on the season.          
     
In the first game, the Eagles totaled five hits on the afternoon, but were unable to come up with the victory.  Senior Heather Giroux went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored to lead EMU offensively in the first game.   Kari Chambers went 5.1 innings on the mound, giving up four hits and only one run, earning a no decision.  Picking up the loss was Jaclyn Caro, who gave up six hits and five runs.
     
In the nightcap, EMU was led by freshman Stacie Skodinski, who went 2-for-3.  Caro had a strong showing on the mound, despite picking up the loss.  She went 6.0 innings, giving up three hits and one earned run while striking out three.
           
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 27, as they continue their Southern California swing.  The Eagles will travel to San Diego to take on the University of San Diego in a doubleheader set to begin at 4 p.m. PST.
