Senior Christopher Ross is tied for 10th after 36 holes to pace the Eagles

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. - The Eastern Michigan Unviersity men's golf team completed the first day of the inaugural Rees Jones Intercollegiate Monday, Nov. 3, in fifth place with a 602 (304-298). Michigan State University is hosting the tournament at the on the par 72, 7,380 yard Haig Point Club.
 
South Carolina, ranked No. 7 in the nation by Golfweek/Sagarin, leads the field at five-over par 581 (291-290), followed by Georgia State at 10-over 586 (290-296) and San Diego State at 17-over 593 (294-299). Individually, Georgia State's Tobias Rosendahl has a three shot lead over the field, posting a three-under 141 (71-70). The South Carolina pair of Wesley Bryan and Paul Woodbury are tied for second at even par 144.

Senior Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) notched rounds of 79 and 69 for a first day total of 148 for a tie for 10th place. Sophomore Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) is tied for 15th with a 149 (74-75).

Junior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) is tied for 26th place with a 152 (72-79) while junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) carded a 153 (78-75) in 29th place. Junior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) rounded out the lineup with pair of 80s for a 160 in a tie for 43rd.

The tournament concludes tomorrow, Nov. 4, with 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. Live scoring from the Haig Point Club is available on
