Senior makes the squad for the second consecutive season

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Eastern Michigan University senior soccer player Katie Zundel (Utica, Mich.-Henry Ford II) was selected to the 18-member Academic All-Mid-American Conference squad marking the second consecutive season that the defender has picked up conference academic accolades.

Zundel, a starter in all 23 games, carries a 3.43 GPA as a management member. The first team All-MAC selection racked up 10 points this season, helping the Eagles to the MAC Tournament final. Zundel found the back of the net four times, including two game-winners, while dishing out two assists. She helped anchor a back line that allowed only 20 goals on the year, good for a 0.83 GAA.

EMU went 13-5-5 on the year, while posting a 6-2-3 MAC mark. The Eagles held the No. 3 seed for the MAC Tournament, making it all the way to the finale before bowing out to Toledo in a heartbreaking 1-0 loss.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
