Green Leads Eagles at Pre-Nationals

Career-bests fall as the Eagles finish 37th in the White Division
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Several career records fell as the Eastern Michigan University women’s cross country team finished 37th in the White Division at the 2008 Pre-National meet Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Senior Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio-Broadview Heights) ran the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:46 to finish 188th. Freshman Natalie Webb (Allen Park, Mich.-Woodhaven) was next, finishing 194th, on her way to running the course with a time of 22:51, a collegiate-best. Freshman Rachel Hollinger-Janzen (Goshen, Ind.-Goshen) was next, crossing with a personal-best time of 23:02. Beverly Elcock (Ft. Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) also ran a career-best, running 23:27. Lauren Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern) was the final scorer across the line for the Eagles, finishing with a time of 23:40, a personal-record.
The Eagles return to action at home, Oct. 24, for the EMU Fall Classic, the final race of the regular season before hosting the MAC Championships Saturday, Nov. 1.
