COLUMBUS, Ohio
--The Eastern Michigan University men’s swimming and diving team was sunk by No. 18 Ohio State, 139-93, today in Mike Peppe Natatorium. The loss snaps an EMU six meet win streak. The Buckeyes rolled winning nine of the meet’s 13 events, including the first five.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 6-2 on the season with both losses coming at the hands of Big 10 Conference members. EMU dropped a 155-58 decision to Michigan to open the 2005-06 season. Ohio State improves to a 6-2 record.

The Scarlet and Grey dominated early, winning the meet’s first five events until Josh Olson posted a 270.30 score on the 1-meter diving board. OSU followed with victories in the 200-yard fly, 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke to put the meet out of reach.

Jason Piercey claimed a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while Don Ellison won the 200-yard breaststroke. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kevin Joyce, Andy Gantzer, Derrick Roe and Dan Wohl wrapped up the dual meet with a victory.

Both the EMU men’s and women’s squads will be in action for the final time during the 2005-06 regular season when it welcomes Buffalo to Jones Natatorium for its season finale Saturday, Feb. 4. The men’s team will put its 42 consecutive Mid-American Conference dual meet winning streak on the line at the 1 p.m. meet.
