Lansing native earns the honor for the second time in her career

CLEVELAND, Ohio –- Junior guard Patrice McKinney (Lansing, Mich.-Everett (Michigan State)) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 10, 2006. This marks the second time in her career she has won the weekly honor.
 
McKinney averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of victories last week over Horizon League foes Detroit and Wright State. In these games, the Lansing native shot 53.8 percent from the floor averaging 33 minutes of work.
 
In a 71-55 triumph over the Titans (Dec. 6), McKinney posted her 10th career double-double with 16 points and 15 boards while dishing five assists and ripping four steals. She continued her work in the 76-59 win over Wright State (Dec. 9) with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
McKinney has pulled down at least 10 rebounds in 12 games while wearing the Green and White uniform. Before transferring from Michigan State, her career-best was nine rebounds against Notre Dame. Since joining EMU, McKinney has averaged 7.7 caroms per game, this season she has stepped it up even more by ripping down 10 or more boards in five of the seven games.
 
The Eagles are next in action Wednesday, Dec. 13, when they battle the Minutewomen of the University of Massachusetts. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass
