Swimming Sweeps IUPUI

Both the EMU men's and women's teams down IUPUI
Results.
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The EMU men's and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated IUPUI Friday night here at Jones Natatorium, Jan. 13. The men's team defeated the Jaguars by a score of 133-96 while the women won 133-90.
The men's team (3-1) used a fast start to race past IUPUI, as the Eagles won the first nine events en route to the victory. Eight different Eagles won individual events. Alex Schulz (1000 free), Steven Bowling (200 free), Ethan Crabtree (50 free), Josh Olsen (1 meter diving), Jason Piercey (100 free), Mark Kurtzer (100 backstroke), and brothers Adam (200 IM) and Dan Wohl (100 butterfly) all captured first-place finishes.
For the women (5-1), Claire Letendre posted wins in the 200 and 500-free events while Emily Mekesa (1000 free), Jennifer Miller (50 free), Becky Renkola (1-meter diving), Katie Benedict (100 free) and Alissa Ricard (100 back) each had victories.
The Eagles return to the pool tomorrow afternoon when they host Oakland University at 3 p.m. The start time was changed from 1 p.m. to allow members of the squads to attend a mass for EMU assistant coach Eric Namesnik, who passed away this past Wednesday, Jan. 11. The mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, Mich.
