EMU Names Craig Capelli Women's Tennis Coach

Former EMU men’s player takes over the duties
YPSILANTI, Mich.
--Craig Capelli, the director of tennis at Chippewa Racket Club in Ypsilanti and an Eastern Michigan University men’s tennis player, has been named head women’s tennis coach at EMU, Interim Athletics Director Bob England announced today. Capelli takes over from Tim Gray who left the position this summer to become the head women’s tennis coach at Auburn University.A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Capelli graduated from EMU in 1992 after competing for four seasons on the men’s varsity tennis team. He completed his degree as a business management major. The men’s program was eliminated at the conclusion of the 1999-2000 season.
The 36-year-old Capelli (12-4-68) has been the director of tennis at Chippewa since 2000. He is also a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).
Capelli and his wife, Betsy (Mehaffie) have two daughters, Katie (12-12-00) and Ashley (2-21-04).
