Nikki Knapp Named MAC West Player of the Week

Senior garners honor for the second time in her career

YPSILANTI, Mich.— Senior forward Nikki Knapp (Blue Springs, Mo.-Blue Springs South) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 25, 2005. This marks the second time in her career she has won the weekly honor.

The senior co-captain from Blue Springs, Mo poured in 21 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Eagles had a near upset before dropping a 72-67 contest to No. 21/22 ranked Utah. Knapp added two assists in the contest that had 11 lead changes and had the score tied eight times. Knapp’s performance included making 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) from the free throw line.

The Eagles enjoy a few days off for the holidays before returning to action Friday, Dec. 30 when Canisius College visits the Convocation Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the EMU Ticket Office at 734.487.2282.
