Sara Schaub returns to the EMU bench for her fifth year as an assistant coach. She was promoted to top assistant in the spring of 2004.
One of the best all-around players ever at EMU, she is second among the career leaders in digs with 1,388 and also ranks on the career charts in kills, attempts, block assists and games played. She helped lead the Eagles to their first MAC Tournament appearance in 10 years in 2000. She ranked among the league leaders in digs and kills throughout her career, including leading the conference with a 4.42 dig-per-game average during her senior season. Schaub was the first player in MAC history to average four digs and kills per game in a single season, accomplishing that also during her final year with 4.42 digs and 4.06 kills a game.
A native of Huron, Ohio, Schaub was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball and basketball at Huron High School. A two-time conference Player of the Year in volleyball, Schaub earned first team All-Ohio honors as a senior and was a three-time first team All-Conference selection in basketball.
Schaub has joined EMU head coach Kim Berrington on the Midwest Professional Volleyball Association (MPVA) tour, playing as a team for the past four seasons. They have captured more than 20 tournament titles while playing on various tours and events including the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) qualifiers, Bud Light Tour, East End Volleyball and Extreme Volleyball Professionals (EVP). Schaub was named the MPVA’s Offensive MVP and ended the 2003 season with an individual rank of fourth. In 2006, the Berrrington-Schaub team have continued to play in several tournaments.
Schaub graduated with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting information systems.
