Eric Stark enters his third season as assistant volleyball coach at Eastern Michigan University in 2012.
In his first two years with the Eagles Stark was responsible for for coaching the outside hitters. During this time he has worked will three-time All-MAC award winner, Rachel Iaquaniello and 2010 All-MAC freshman team award winner, Erin Short. He also helped the Green and White to back-to-back 20 win seasons for the first time since the 2002-03 campaigns.
Stark joined the Eagles after spending three seasons on the Oberlin College volleyball staff and the last as the team’s associate head coach.
In addition to his on court coaching duties at Oberlin, Stark played a significant role in recruiting, video analysis, scouting, and film exchange. He also handled a large portion of the day-to-day duties in the volleyball office, which included travel coordination and managing the team’s equipment for the Yeowomen.
In 2009, the 28-year old Stark helped the Yeowomen equal the school record with 15 wins and set the school record with seven North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victories. In 2008, Oberlin notched six league victories and three players garnered all-conference honors.
In 2007, Stark dove right into the recruiting process by adding three Yeowomen to the roster for the fall of 2008. Stark also pioneered Oberlin’s YeoYouth Volleyball Clinic, instructing local children on the skills of the game.
In addition to his duties with the Yeowomen, Stark was the head coach for Spirit Volleyball Club’s 18’s team in the spring of 2009. He also worked camps for Oberlin, Wooster, Matchpoint and Ohio Elite.
A 2007 graduate of Bradley University with a degree in environmental science with an emphasis in biology, Stark served as women’s volleyball team manager. During his five years with the Braves, Stark assisted with practices, prepared scouting reports, and coordinated the team’s player development program.
During his tenure at Bradley, Stark also worked as a camp counselor for the school’s summer volleyball camps. In 2006 he earned his USAV CAP1 coaching certification.
