Haley Dutton joins Eastern Michigan as a volunteer coach for the 2022-23 season.
Dutton was five-year letterwinner at EMU, starting as a talent-transfer novice rower in 2016. As a graduate student athlete in 2019, she led the First Varsity Eight squad to a program-best third-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship (CAA). Dutton was also a member of several boats who claimed program best finishes at noted regattas in 2019, such as the Head of the Grand and the Head of the Hooch. Additionally, the Wisconsin-native helped the Eagles to a program-best fifth-place finish as part of the Varsity Eight boat at the Head of the Charles on Oct. 19, 2019.
In June 2021, Dutton was named a Colonial Athletic Association Leadership & Sport Excellence Award recipient. Dutton was also a three-time Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar-Athlete honoree at EMU.
She graduated from Eastern Michigan University in April 2022 with a master of science in orthotics and prosthetics. Dutton also earned her bachelor’s degree from EMU in exercise science with a minor in communication April 2020.
A native of West Salem, Wis., Dutton was a four-time letterwinner in track and field, throwing discus and shotput at West Salem High School. She ranked second in school history in the discus throw and fourth in the shot-put throw. In addition to track, Dutton lettered four times in basketball, while competing in cross country, and football.
