Darin Thrun begins his second season as an Eagles’ assistant coach after spending three years as a member of the Michigan State University women’s basketball coaching staff.

In just one season at Eastern Michigan, Thrun helped mentor the Eagles’ post players in their run to a share of the Mid-American Conference West Division Championship. The group combined to average 27.2 points and 18.1 rebounds.

During his tenure at Michigan State, the Spartans compiled a 79-23 record, earning the 2005 Big Ten Conference regular-season championship, a Big Ten Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament runner-up finish. While at MSU, he was responsible for game operations, travel preparations and film exchange while assisting in recruiting and other administrative duties.

The Nashville, Mich. native has extensive summer camp coaching experience, having worked as an instructor at MSU, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Michigan. He also attended the Five-Star Basketball Camp and was the AAU Under-18 basketball coach in Nashville, Mich.

The 25-year-old Thrun (8-29-83) is a 2006 Michigan State University graduate with a bachelor of science degree in biological science with a minor in chemistry. Also within the last year, Thrun completed his teaching certificate requirements, serving as a student teacher at Holt High School in Holt, Mich.
