The 2013 season marks the second for Assistant Coach Marissa Young. Young will primarily work with pitchers, catchers and infielders.

Young previously served three seasons as Head Coach of the Concordia University softball program in Ann Arbor. In her first year at the helm, the Santa Ana, Calif. native helped guide a young Cardinals squad to the second most wins in a single season since their 2002 NAIA National Tournament run.

Prior to coaching, Young was a standout player at the University of Michigan. During her career, she showcased her talent  on both sides of the field, garnering Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Year accolades in 2002 and Big Ten Player of the Year honors in 2003. A three-time All-American selection, Young finished her prominent career for the Maize and Blue as the all-time strikeout leader (927), and her 88 career wins became the second-best efforts in program history. Offensively, Young matched the then-program’s single season home run record after drilling 13 round-trippers in 2003.

Young currently resides in Ypsilanti with her three kids, Layla (5), Jojo (4) and Kayden (1).
