Track & Field Programs Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The women’s team totaled a 3.38 cumulative GPA, the men posted a 3.37, and six Eagles earned individual distinction

NEW ORLEANS, La. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field programs earned six individual and two team United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for the 2025-26 season, the organization announced July 20.   

A team must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to make the cut as a group.

The Eastern women's team notched a 3.38 GPA, while the men earned the honor with a 3.37 GPA, and six Eagles earned the award individually.
Individuals were required to post at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA academically while athletic criteria varied between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).

For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.

Individual honors for the men went to Ray Glory-Ejoyokah (Southfield, Mich./Wylie E. Groves), Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive), Gabe Oliveira (São Paulo, Brazil/Escola Estadual Jornalista David Nasser), and Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College). All four of the men qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships East First Round in their respective events.

Glory-Ejoyokah holds a 4.00 GPA in Neuroscience, along with competing in the NCAA East First Round in the discus throw with his 55.02m (180-6) qualifying mark. The throw stands as the fourth best in EMU program history, was third in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings, and 42nd in the region at the end of the season.

McEachern earns the honor with a 3.58 GPA in Biology, and an NCAA East First Round qualifying mark of 64.29m (210-11) in the hammer throw. His performance landed him in spot No. 6 in the program ranks, was second in the MAC, and 32nd in the region.

Holding a 3.75 GPA in Communications, Oliveira qualified for the NCAA East First Round in the triple jump, seeing a best mark of 15.54m (51-00), ranking second in the conference, 37th in the region, and slotted in spot No. 7 in program history. Oliveira was also the MAC indoor men's triple jump champion.

Wiles garnered the award with a 3.37 GPA in Exercise Science, and a 1500m time of 3:39.87 to qualify for competition at the NCAA East First Round. The time led the conference, ranked 34th in the region, and is the second fastest time in Eastern history. Wiles has now also been named the MAC men's 1500m champion for the last two seasons.

On the women's side, Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) and Uduak Udosoh (Abak, Nigeria/Ibiaku Clan Community Secondary) earned the honor.

Walkes recently graduated from the program with a 3.61 GPA, receiving her Master of Business Administration, and earned the award after qualifying for the NCAA East First Round in the 200m with a time of 23.30, along with qualifying as a member of the 4x400m relay team with an EMU school record time of 3:33.86.

Udosoh holds a 3.37 GPA in Business Management, and she qualified for the award after competing alongside Walkes in the 4x400m relay at the NCAA East First Round.
