YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University baseball team stormed back with an explosive eight-run eighth inning to defeat Ohio University, 9-4, Friday, May 15, at Oestrike Stadium.

Nick Weaver (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood/Elgin C.C.) and Ty Stecko (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin/Mount St. Mary's) led the way for the Eagles as Weaver smashed a trio doubles while Stecko knocked two hits and drove in three runs all in the eight-run EMU eighth.

Ethan Davis (Brownstown, Ind./Brownstown Central/Frontier C.C.) (1-1) entered in the eighth inning and pitched two scoreless frames to earn his first win of the season.

How it Happened
The Eagles and Bobcats traded zeros through three innings on the program's distinctive gray turf at Oestrike Stadium. Ohio broke through in the fourth, as back-to-back home runs and a sacrifice bunt put Eastern in an early 3-0 hole.

The deficit grew to 4-0 in the fifth before the Eagles got on the board in the bottom half, when Weaver crossed the plate on a groundout from Kriss Sydlowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline/USC Sumpter).

The game remained 4-1 until the bottom of the eighth, when Eastern Michigan unleashed one of its most dramatic rallies of the season. The comeback began with a double from Stecko, followed by a game-tying, two-run double from Leewood Molessa (Pullman, W. Va./Williamstown/UMBC). Weaver delivered the go-ahead RBI double, and Bruce Jellison (Hartland, Mich./Hartland/Wabash Valley) added insurance with an RBI single. A fielder's choice bunt by John Hale (Ashland City, Tenn./Sycamore/Motlow State C.C.) and a two-run single from Stecko capped the eight-run outburst, turning a three-run deficit into a 9-4 lead.

Davis slammed the door with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts, earning the victory in front of the home crowd on Senior Weekend.
