Second-year assistant helped the program reach the NCAA Regionals for the first time

FRISCO, Texas (EMUEagles.com) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the watch list for its inaugural Division I Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year Award, April 30, with Eastern Michigan University women's golf assistant coach Caterina Don featuring as one of the 15 individuals selected. The award, which was established to recognize an assistant coach whose leadership, preparation, and commitment elevate their program's performance and positively impact the student-athlete experience, will be announced after the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, May 22-27, in Carlsbad, Calif.

Don has been instrumental in the program's rise during her two seasons in Ypsilanti. A former student-athlete under current Eastern Head Coach Josh Brewer while at the University of Georgia, Don's knowledge and skill in the game has helped the Eagles continue to climb the rankings, reaching as high as No. 19 this year after not cracking the top 200 prior to her arrival. Don recently helped the Eagles take runner-up honors at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships before the team was selected as an at-large participant in the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, marking the first time in program history the Eagles will compete in the postseason.

Don will be on the course, May 11-13, to work with the Eagles as they compete in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla. Eastern, seeded fifth in the region, will look to finish in the top five in the three-day competition to advance to the NCAA Championships later in May.
