Wiles and Badoo Highlight Track and Field's Two-Meet Weekend

The Eagles set seven personal bests and three program top 10 marks

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs saw Kian Wiles run a Mid-American Conference (MAC) best and program No. 5 mile time of 3:59.78 to earn an event win. Julien Badoo improved his program top-10 mark in the heptathlon pole vault with a 4.00m (13-01.50) clearance, moving from spot No. 10 to No. 8 in a two-meet weekend, Jan. 30-31.
Eastern had athletes compete in both the Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invitational, at the SVSU Field House in University Center, Mich., and the Meyo Invitational, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, at the Loftus Sports Center, in South Bend, Ind., Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
The programs had multi athletes competing at the Jet's Pizza Invitational, and distance athletes competing at the Meyo Invitational. Multiple Eagles set personal bests, with a combined total of seven between the two meets, and three program top 10 marks.
How it Happened – Meyo Invitational
The Eagles were highlighted by Wiles (Hull, England/St Mary's College) and his MAC-leading, and fifth best program mile time of 3:59.78 to earn an event win. Wiles' previous personal best mile time was 4:01.84, which he ran at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet on Feb. 14 in the 2024-25 season.
Four more of the distance athletes set personal best times over the weekend. Drew Graves (Shelby Township, Mich./Henry Ford II) ran a personal best time of 1:22.71 in the 600m. Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) ran a personal best 4:10.78 in the open mile.
On the women's side, Sophie Emin (Easton Pa./Easton Area/Rutgers) set another personal best in the 800m, running a time of 2:12.66, improving her time from last weekend's Bob Parks Memorial 800m of 2:12.81. Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) earned a personal best time in the mile, running the race in 5:01.90.
How it Happened – Jet's Pizza Invitational
Friday was highlighted by Shamoya Clemetson (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) earning a third place finish in the pentathlon with 3,156 points. Of the five events, Clemetson saw one second place finish in the long jump with a 5.31m (17-05.25) mark, along with two third-place finishes in the 60m hurdles, and shot put events with a time of 9.26, and throw of 10.10m (33-01.75).
Cason Doolittle (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) and Badoo (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) finished the heptathlon in fifth and ninth place, respectively. Doolittle earned an event win in the heptathlon high jump on day one with a 1.86m (6-01.25) clearance, along with earning a spot in the program top 10 for his heptathlon day two only score of 2,063 points, taking spot No. 10. Badoo matched and set two personal-bests, as he cleared 4.00m (13-01.50) on the pole vault, matching his personal-best mark from last weekend's Bob Parks Memorial and earning spot No. 8 in program history, now tied with Gregor Harzer, who set the mark in 2010, along with setting a personal best in the shot put with a 10.27m (33-08.50) throw.
