Golf Ties for Seventh Behind de Bock's Strong Play

Junior fired 207, the second-lowest score in program history, to tie for fifth

The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team shook off a slow start at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic and climb the standings to finish tied for seventh in the 20-team field with Savannah de Bock tying for fifth on the Fazio Course (par 72, 6,376 yards) at Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo., Sept. 22-24. The Eagles, who stood 17th following the first round, rose 10 places in the event and finished at 14-over 878, helping the team improve by five places and 15 strokes from last year's competition.
 
EMU's 878 tied it with the University of California Irvine (291-297-290) and Northern Arizona University (297-295-286) as the trio of teams finished seventh. No. 4 University of Southern California won the team title in a tournament-record 45-under 819 (276-276-267) while Pepperdine University (28-under 836, 278-286-272) and No. 7 Louisiana State University (13-under 845, 274-296-275) rounded out the top three. No. 23 Arizona (9-under 855, 287-292-276) was fourth, the University of Kansas (1-under 863, 299-290-274) was fifth, and the University of Miami (6-over 870, 292-298-280) was sixth.
 
Individually, de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) carded a 9-under 207 (71-67-69) to tie for fifth while posting the second-lowest score in program history behind the 204 she shot at the 2024 Golfweek Red Sky Classic. All told, in the two times she has played at Red Sky Ranch, de Bock has recorded the two lowest 54-hole scores in EMU history while collectively shooting 21-under par. Along with the 54-hole score standing, she posted a pair of rounds in the 60s, including a second-round 67, which tied for the third-lowest in program history, and a third-round 69, which tied for 17th. Overall, since the start of the 2024-25 season, de Bock has added nine rounds in the 60s the program ledger, accounting for 28.1 percent of the entries (9-of-32).
 
Baiyok Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) tied for 28th as she shot 2-over 218 (76-71-71) to tie for the 26th-lowest score in EMU history. She also recorded multiple rounds at or below par for the second consecutive tournament for the Eagles. Matilde Zocchi (Turin, Italy/Liceo Vittoria) tied for 58th at 10-over 226 (80-72-74) to lower her collegiate-best score by two strokes while Julianna Go (San Juan, Philippines/St. Jude Catholic School/King) and Angelica Holman (Fort Pierce, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy/Daytona State/Georgia) made their season debuts as both tied for 82nd at 17-over 233.
 
Team Notes
» The 874 the Eagles shot in the tournament marked the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in program history and the third consecutive event this fall to land in the top five. The Eagles shot 859 at the Leadership & Golf Invitational (Sept. 15-16) to post a school record after firing 875 at the season-opening The Southern (Sept. 8-9), which ranks third.
» The team's second and third-round scores also ranked among the best in program history. The 284 shots in the second round ranked as the third-lowest in program history while the third-round score of 287 tied for eighth.
» Through three tournaments in 2025 (nine rounds), the Eagles have posted the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 (tied), No. 6 (tied), and No. 8 (tied) lowest scores in team history.
 
Individual Notes
» Savannah de Bock shot 9-under 207 to tie for fifth while posting the second-best score in program history behind her own 204 (70-65-69) shot one year ago in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
» Savannah de Bock shot rounds of 67 (round two) and 69 (round three), which tied for the third and 17th-lowest, respectively, in program history. For her time in Ypsilanti, she has posted nine rounds in the 60s and owns 28.1 percent (9-of-32) of all rounds in the 60s recorded by EMU players in program history.
» Baiyok Sukterm tied for 28th by shooting 2-over 218, which tied for the 26th-lowest score in program history. Additionally, she recorded two rounds at or below par for the second consecutive tournament and has shot in the red in 5-of-9 events.
» Matilde Zocchi finished her second tournament for the Eagles and improved by two strokes over her debut at The Southern, shooting 10-over 226. Additionally, her second-round 72 tied her single-round low as a collegiate player.
» Julianna Go and Angelica Holman both tied for 82nd at 17-over 233 in their season debuts for the Eagles.
