Track & Field Programs Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Distinction

The women’s team posted a 3.423 cumulative GPA, the men totaled a 3.176, five Eagles earned the honor individually
NEW ORLEANS, La. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track & field programs earned United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic distinction for the 2024-25 season as each team recorded a GPA above 3.00.
The women's team led with a 3.423 cumulative GPA while the men posted a 3.176. Along with the teams, five EMU student-athletes -- Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive), Gabe Singh, Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College), Saraiah Walkes, and Isabella Brent earned the award individually.
Individuals were required to post at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA academically while athletic criteria varied between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.
McEachern led the list of men's honorees with a 3.76 cumulative GPA and held a season-best hammer throw mark of 63.63m (208-09) that ranked 34th on the east qualifying list. Singh recorded a 3.57 and ranked 25th on the east qualifying list in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 50.62. Wiles rounded out the list of men's honorees with a 3.28 in the classroom and slotted 45th in the 1500m in the east region with a time of 3:40.73. Both Singh and Wiles' marks led the Mid-American Conference (MAC) while McEachern's ranked second as each was good enough to compete in the first round of the Division I NCAA Track & Field Championships, May 28-31.
On the women's side, Brent spearheaded the EMU honorees with a 3.85 cumulative GPA and notched the east region's 49th ranked hammer throw, tossing 57.54m (188-09), ranking third in the MAC. Walkes totaled a 3.50 and stood 42nd in the east region in the 400m dash with a time of 52.88 while also checking in in the 200m, ranking 43rd in 23.19. Walkes' 200m mark led the MAC and her 400m time stood second in the conference as she was named the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships' Most Valuable Performer after scoring 38 points off three first-place finishes (100m, 200m, 4x400m) and one second-place outing (4x100m), May 17. Both Brent and Walkes punched their respective tickets to the first round of the Division I NCAA Track & Field Championships, May 28-31.
