JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Eight Eastern Michigan University track & field student-athletes conclude their seasons competing against some of the best track & field student-athletes in the nation, battling for the right to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at the NCAA East First Round, hosted by the University of North Florida, at Visit Jax Hodges Stadium, Wednesday-Saturday, May 28-31.
 
Five members of the men's team and three from the women's squad saw action at the meet.
 
How it Happened – Men
The men opened the first day of competition (Wednesday, May 28) with three student-athletes seeing action as Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive) (hammer throw), Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) (1500m run), and Gabe Singh (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Northview/Oakland) (400m hurdles) each competed in respective first round competitions.
 
McEachern placed 29th in the hammer throw, tossing 61.80m (202-09), while Wiles placed 36th in the 1500m, running the distance in 3:35.40. Singh closed out the day with the 400m hurdles that ran into the early morning hours as the meet was delayed several hours due to inclement weather. He wrapped his standout senior campaign with a 27th place showing in 51.14, missing the quarterfinals cut by just three spots. 
 
Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) and Lucky Fiaku (Nimo, Nigeria/Busy International Secondary) concluded the men's competition Friday, May 30, as the high jump duo each cleared 2.10m (6-10.75) in the event, finishing 19th and 24th, respectively, as Hill cleared the height on his first attempt while Fiaku did so on his third.
 
How it Happened – Women
Isabella Brent (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child) kicked off the women's first day of action (Thursday, May 29) with the a 45th-place outing in the hammer throw first round, sporting a 52.67m (172-09) toss in what was her final collegiate competition. Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy) slotted 31st in the 400m first round, crossing the line in 53.18.
 
Junior high jump Micah Martin (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) completed the competition for the Eagles Saturday, May 31, with a 27th-place finish in the high jump, leaping 1.74m (5-08.50) as Eastern's third qualifier in the event along with Hill and Fiaku on the men's side.
