The junior reset the program’s records for goals (53) and points (58) over the weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly award winners for lacrosse with Eastern Michigan University's Mackenzie Blackwell being selected as the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Vivian LaMange of Robert Morris University. Blackwell became the first player in the MAC this season to earn the offensive accolade in back-to-back weeks and the third player overall in 2025 when including the defensive and goalkeeper awards.
Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) had another big week for the Eagles as she scored 11 goals and added one assist for 12 points over the course of two games. She opened the weekend with a three-goal hat trick against Oregon, marking her fifth hat trick against a Power 4 opponent this season. She closed the weekend with an eight-goal performance at Kent State, scoring the most goals by a MAC player this season and tying for the third-most by any player in the NCAA this year.
Blackwell, whose nine points at KSU tied for the most by a MAC player this year and 24th nationally, brought her season total to 53 goals and 58 points, both of which lead the MAC (3.79 and 4.14, respectively). All told, she is the first player in EMU history to reach 50 goals in a single season as her goal total broke her own school record of 49 scored in 2024 while her 58 points are a four-point improvement over her previous record of 54 set last year.
Not only was Blackwell honored for the second consecutive week, it marked her third offensive award from the MAC this season after first garnering recognition March 4. The MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week (April 9), Blackwell joins Maddie Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) as the two Eagles that earned back-to-back honors this year after Porter was tabbed the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week March 4 and March 11.
The honor earned is the seventh for the program this season with Blackwell earning the offensive award for the third time. Along with the three honors earned by Porter, Katheryn Wilson (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) has also been honored this season as the MAC Offensive Player of the Week for March 25.
