MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.  (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team earned a runner-up finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, March 22, inside McGuirk Arena as the Eagles scored 195.525 points, their second-best output of the season.
 
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) finished second in the all-around and on bars while Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) finished second on floor and Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) placed third in all-around.
 
Boris and Brushwood were named to the MAC Gymnastics All-Tournament Team as Eastern's second-place performance is its best since winning the MAC Championship in 2021.
 
Road to Nationals' top-ranked MAC team Central Michigan won the meet with 195.725 points, while EMU topped a trio of conference foes that were ranked ahead of the Green and White on Road to Nationals' rankings.
 
How it Happened 
On all-around, Eastern Michigan was led by Boris' second-place 39.075 showing, highlighted by a 9.875 on floor. Close behind was Lowe, who had a 38.950 overall with her best mark being 9.800 on bars.
 
EMU started the championships on the uneven bars as Boris led the way with a 9.825, which was good for second. Two other gymnasts had a 9.800, which were Lowe and Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) and Eastern Michigan had a team score of 48.725 to start the day off.
 
The Eagles' next rotation was the balance beam, where they had a 48.575. Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) and Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) led the way, each with a 9.800. Lowe was third for the Eagles with a 9.700.
 
After taking a bye on rotation three, Eastern Michigan was on floor for rotation four. Eastern's top performance of the day came from Brushwood, matching her career high by scoring 9.900 points. In addition to Brushwood, four other Eagles had at least a 9.800 on floor as Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) posted a career-high 9.875 to match Boris. Chemotti's 9.850 and Priya Karle's (Canton, Mass./Canton). Tallied 9.8000 points to help propel EMU to 49.300 floor points, its top mark in any event this season. The 49.300 total is tied for Eastern's seventh-best floor score in program history.
 
To round out the day, Eastern was on vault for the sixth rotation, after having the fifth one off. With a 48.925 on vault, the Eagles' best vault score of the season, Fisher led the way with a 9.825. Right behind her was Brushwood, who had a 9.800.

This season's NCAA Championships is set to be held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19.
