LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is set to play its second consecutive tournament in the Valley of the Sun as the Eagles will take part in the Bell Bank 'Pay It Forward' Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz., Monday-Tuesday, March 24-25. The two-day event will feature 16 teams playing 54 holes on the par-72, 7,345-yard course nicknamed the 'Arizona Monster', a course that has played host to U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers and NCAA Regional Championships in its past.

TOURNAMENT INFO: 'PAY IT FORWARD'
Nicknamed the 'Arizona Monster', the Gold Course at the 54-hole Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz., will play host to the two-day event with teams playing the first two rounds Monday, March 24, and the final round Tuesday, March 25, with both days opening at 10 a.m. ET. The par-72 course will measure 7,345 yards and will feature the following teams: Bethel (Minn.), Creighton, Denver, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Iowa State, Loyola-Chicago, Marquette, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Omaha, South Dakota, South Dakota State, St. Thomas, and UC Santa Barbara.
RANKED TEAMS - 'PAY IT FORWARD'
Of the 15 NCAA Division I teams in the field, only Marquette is ranked in the top 50 according to the March 19 release of the Scoreboard/Clippd rankings with the Golden Eagles sitting at No. 49. Iowa State (No. 68), Nebraska (No. 84), and Minnesota (No. 90) are all among the top 100 with Eastern Michigan, at No. 153, next in line. Bethel, an NCAA Division III school, enters the tournament ranked No. 23.
RANKED INDIVIDUALS - 'PAY IT FORWARD'
Individually, four individuals are ranked in the top 200 of the NCAA Division I rankings, led by No. 104 Patrick Adler of Marquette. The three other players ranked in the top 200 include No. 119 Paul Beauvy (Iowa State), No. 141 Rudy Sautron (Nebraska), and No. 165 Max Lyons (Marquette). In the NCAA Division III rankings, Bethel's Will Karkoc is ranked No. 30.
RECAP: DESERT MOUNTAIN
Daniel Robles Delval finished fifth overall, including placing ahead of six players ranked among the national top 100, to lead EMU to a ninth-place finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., March 8-9. As a team, Eastern shot 19-over 883 (295-290-298) to tie for ninth place with Kentucky and VCU, who EMU Head Coach Andy Walker coached the previous three seasons. The Eagles were second among teams in the MAC as Miami was eighth at 16-over 880 (290-299-291) and Central Michigan was 16th at 87-over 951 (307-323-321). Robles Delval finished 6-under 210 (68-69-73) to place fifth overall, just three strokes out of the top three, while tying his best 54-hole score after he also shot 210 at the 2023 Spring Bulldog Clash as a member of the Rogers State program. He finished under par in a 54-hole tournament for the first time with the Eagles and the fifth-time in his career while posting his first two rounds of 69 or better with EMU.
HIGH FINISHES
Daniel Robles Delval shot 6-under 210 to finish fifth at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate (March 8-9) to post his second top 10 finish of the season. Robles Delval, who finished ahead of No. 36 Hunter Thomson (Michigan) in the desert, improved his best placement after tying for seventh at the Virtues Intercollegiate (Sept. 28-29) earlier this season. With his finish in Arizona, he moved into a tie with Tim Chan for the most top 10 finishes this season as Chan opened the year tying for eighth at the Southern Dunes Invitational (Sept. 9-10) and was third at the White Sands Bahamas Men's NCAA Invitational (Oct. 25-27).
BETTER THAN AVERAGE
Tim Chan has played 20 rounds this year for the Eagles and carries an average of 72.6, which currently ranks as the 10th-best in program history. The school record holder after shooting 63 in the second round at the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Men's Invitational, Chan leads the team with 74 birdies (3.7 per round).
MOVING UP
Following the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate (March 8-9), the Eagles improved their season average to 291.8 as a team, which currently ties for the third-lowest four-player season average in program history (since 1969-70). As it stands, the 2018-19 squad holds the mark at 289.1 with the 2016-17 squad second at 290.4. This year's team is currently tied with the 2019-20 team.
CHAN GOES LOW
Tim Chan made major edits to the program's record book as he added his name to the top of the single-round list and moved into second on the three-round tournament ledger after play at the White Sands event (Oct. 25-27). In the second round (Oct. 26), he carded an 11-under 63 to break the school record of 64 that was recorded six times by five different players with the last coming Feb. 26, 2018, but Tyler Lewis at the Loyola Intercollegiate. In that same tournament, Lewis finished with a 16-under 200 to set the school record for 54 holes with Chan's 202 in the Bahamas now ranking second all-time at EMU.
ON THE HORIZON
Eastern returns to action April 11-12 when the Eagles travel to Raleigh, N.C., to participate in the 13-team Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina State University on the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
