Swim & Dive Notches Three Program Top 10 Times on Third Day of MAC Championships

AMHERST, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim & dive team saw three program top 10 times on day three of the Mid-American Conference Championships, hosted by the University at Buffalo, at Dorsi Raynolds Pool, Friday, Feb. 28.
Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) and Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario/Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute) teamed up to swim the No. 5 (54.59) and No. 7 (55.08) 100y butterfly program times, respectively, before Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) improved her program top 10 100y breaststroke time from No. 8 to No. 7, as she placed ninth in the finals in 1:02.62.
How it Happened
Trailing Larosa in the 100y breaststroke, was Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East), who placed 11th in 1:03.05. Together, the two combined to score 15 points for Eastern.
After swimming program top 10 times in the prelims, Clarino and Mina placed 13th and 16th, respectively, in the 100y butterfly finals, scoring five points for the Eagles.
Moran Hofmeister (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) had a strong night. She first punched her ticket to the 400y IM finals with a personal-best 4:30.21 swim, finishing 12th in the prelims before bettering that time by nearly two seconds in the finals, placing 13th in 4:28.88, collecting four points for the Block E.
Megan Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) had the Eagles highest finish of the night from the divers, placing fourth in the 3m dive prelims with a score of 261.50.
Eastern rounded out the night with a season-best time in the 200y freestyle relay. The squad of Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole), Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District), Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast), and Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) swam the distance in 1:32.47, good for 26 points.
Eastern stands seventh after day three with 142 points after scoring 50 points on the third day, its most in one day at this season's conference championships.
