AMHERST, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com)
– Eastern Michigan freshman diver Megan Lupa earned the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman Diver of the Year Awarded, as the Eagles completed the fourth and final day of the 2025 MAC Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by the University at Buffalo, at the Dorsi Raynolds Pool, Saturday, March 1.

Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) becomes just the second Eagle to garner the award as the first came from Micaela Schempf in the 2017-18 campaign.

Lupa placed seventh in the 3m dive final with 255.75 points, the highest score of any freshman in the event, while adding a 15th place showing in the 1m finals, Feb. 27, scoring a 226.95, as the Eagles finished seventh as a team with 215 points.

How it Happened
Eastern earned 11 finals qualifications, scoring 73 points on the night, its most lucrative night of the meet.

Lupa and the 400y freestyle relay team of Marlee Christie (Seminole, Fla./Seminole), Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./St. Henry District), Sophie Gatrall (Windsor, Ontario/Tecumseh Vista Academy), and Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) each placed seventh, marking the team's highest finishes of the evening. The relay, swam in a season-best 3:23.94, earned the Green & White 24 points and Lupa's dive scored 12.

EMU collected 12 points in the 1650y freestyle, led by Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre), who swam a personal-best 17:09.49. Ashley George (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha) placed 15th in a season-best 17:27.47, joined by Morgan Hofmeister (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty), who also had a season-best, finishing 16th in 17:27.75.

Littrell and Christie each added points in the 100y freestyle finals to go with their contributions in the 400y freestyle relay. Littrell earned four points and a personal-best, touching the wall in 13th in 50.74. Christie collected one point with a 16th-place finish in a season-best 51.75.

Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) swam a season-fastest time in the 200y breaststroke finals, placing 13th (2:17.61) for four points, after finishing 13th with what was then a season-best time in 2:18.78 in the prelims.

Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario/Lawrence Park Collegiate) and Sydney Ulmer (York, Pa./Central York/Savannah College of Art and Design) rounded out the night with 10th and 15th place finishes in the 200y butterfly, respectively.
