Savannah de Bock paced the Eagles with her seventh top 15 showing of the season

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team competed at the Daniel Island Invitational in Daniel Island, S.C., Feb. 24-25, with the Eagles placing 14th in the team standings in the three-round tournament played on the par-72, 6,166-yard Ralston Creek Course at the Daniel Island Golf Club.
 
Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) was the top finisher the Eagles as she tied for 15th in the standings as she played the 54-hole event at 2-over 218 (73-73-72) to record her fifth tournament score that ranks in the program's all-time top 20 while placing in the top 15 for her seventh consecutive event. She was followed in the scoring by Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) and Mariana Vega (Barranquilla, Columbia/Colegio Karl C. Parrish), who both tied for 47th at 12-over 228. For Kim (82-71-75), the 228 strokes rank as her second-lowest score of the season while tying for her fifth-lowest collegiate score.
 
Erina Tan (Belmont, Western Australia/Mount Lawley Senior) tied for 59th at 18-over 234 (77-84-73) with her final round 73 ranking as her best round as a collegiate competitor, surpassing the 75 she fired in her debut at the Match in the Desert, Jan. 27. Fellow newcomer Angelica Holman (Fort Pierce, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy/Daytona State/Georgia) rounded out the Eagles in the event as she finished 74th at 28-over 244 (81-79-84).
 
Historical Notes
» As a team, the Eagles' third-round score of 292 tied for the 12th-lowest single-round score in program history. It marks the fourth time this season the Eagles have added a score to the program's all-time top 20 list.
» Individually, Savannah de Bock's score of 218 marks the sixth score she has placed on EMU all-time top 20 list as it tied for the 17th-lowest total in program history. Earlier this season, she posted scores of 204 (No. 1), 210 (No. 2), 211 (T-No. 3), 213 (No. 5), and 214 (T-No. 6).
» Savannah de Bock has finished in the top 15 of all seven events she has played this season.
» Riley Kim's 228 tied for her second-lowest tournament score this year, equaling the 228 she carded at the Hurricane Invitational (Oct. 28-29). It trails only the 222 she scored at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 21-23).
» Erina Tan fired a final round 73 to lower her season-best round. Her previous collegiate best was the 75 she carded in the single-round Match in the Desert (Jan. 27), which was her collegiate debut competition.
 
Up Next
Eastern returns to action Monday-Tuesday, March 3-4, when the Eagles compete in River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC Wilmington, on the River Course at River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, N.C. The teams set to compete include EMU, host UNCW, Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, North Carolina A&T, Princeton, Radford, and William & Mary.
