YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Volleyball Head Coach Kevin Foeman announced the team's spring schedule Monday, Feb. 24. The schedule entails six matches and one tournament.
First, the Eagles will take on the Spartans of Michigan State in a neutral site contest. The match will be held at the Legacy Volleyball Club in Wixom, Mich., Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m.
Roughly two weeks later, Eastern will see action at the Wright State Tournament in Dayton, Ohio, March 29. The Eagles will play three matches against foes that are to be determined. Outside of EMU and Wright State, Ohio, Xavier, Kent State, Northern Kentucky, Cedarville, and Wittenberg will compete at the tourney.
Next, Eastern will remain on the road to face nearby Hillsdale College, April 4, before returning to the George Gervin GameAbove Center for its spring-season finale against Michigan, April 15, 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The 2025 spring season comes after the Eagles posted an eight-win improvement from the 2023 season, as they went 13-19 in 2024 after compiling a 5-25 record in Foeman's first season at the helm of the program.
On top of an eight-win improvement from the 2023 campaign, three of the five newcomers to the 2025 roster will don the Block E for the first time in transfer setter Ashlynn Belcher (Marengo, Ohio/Highland/Old Dominion), outside hitter AshleeKay Christensen (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle), and setter Kaylin Schroeder (Temperance, Mich./Bedford).
Belcher spent three years setting for the Monarchs. Most recently in 2024, she played in 27 games and started in all of them, recorded 896 assists (8.22/set), 254 digs (2.33/set), 24 kills (0.22/set), 14 blocks (0.13/set), and a .968 serving percentage. Her 896 assists and 8.22 per-set average led the team, while her 254 digs and 2.33 per-set average ranked second. Belcher was named to three all-tournament teams in 2024, with her most notable tourney performance coming at the Mason Invitational, where she recorded 107 assists (8.92 per set) with one kill, two aces, 23 digs, and three blocks.
Christensen was a three-time first team all-conference player in her high school years, also earning second-team all-state honors in the state of Iowa. She was recently named to the Iowa Senior All Star Team and all-district team during her senior season, on top of earning three academic all-conference awards.
Schroeder joins the Eagles after an outstanding high school career, where she earned three All-SEC Red Team nods, three Monroe County All-Region honors, and three MIVCA All-Region awards. She was also a two-time all-state player, earning second team her junior season and third team as a senior.
