PITTSBURGH, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics congratulates former quarterback Charlie Batch on his selection to the Pennsylvania State Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Batch will be officially enshrined during the Hall's 62nd Induction Ceremony and Awards Dinner Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Sheraton Hotel at Station Square in Pittsburgh.

Batch, a 1997 EMU graduate, remains one of the most accomplished players in program history. During his four-year career from 1994-97, he rewrote the school's record book, setting marks for total offense (7,715 yards), career passing yards (7,592), and career touchdown passes (53). His single-season totals of 3,229 yards in 1995 and 3,390 in 1997 rank among the best in school history. Batch was named EMU's Most Valuable Player in 1997 and earned First Team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 1995 while leading the Eagles to a winning record.

Selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft, Batch enjoyed a 12-year professional career with the Lions (1998-2001) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2002-2012). He appeared in 71 career NFL games, throwing for more than 10,000 yards and 57 touchdowns. A two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Steelers (Super Bowl XL and XLIII), Batch was also recognized as the team's 2006 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his leadership and community work.

Off the field, Batch has remained deeply committed to serving his hometown of Homestead, Pennsylvania. Through his Best of the Batch Foundation and Project C.H.U.C.K. (Continuously Helping Uplift Community Kids), he has provided educational resources, mentorship, and athletic opportunities for underserved youth across the Pittsburgh area.

Batch joins an impressive 2025 induction class that includes Swin Cash, Sean Casey, Sam Clancy, Michael Moorer, and others representing excellence across multiple sports.

The Pennsylvania State Sports Hall of Fame celebrates athletes, coaches, and contributors who have brought pride to the Commonwealth through sport. The Class of 2025 will be honored during a ceremony hosted by broadcaster Andrew Stockey.
