Boris’ 39.075 all-around score led Eagles to first season-opening win since 2021

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team opened its 2025 campaign with a 194.925-193.100 victory over fellow Mid-American Conference member, Bowling Green State University, Sunday, Jan. 12 inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Eagles had nine personal-bests in the meet, including one in vault, two on bars, four on beam and two on floor.
How It Happened:
Senior Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) led the Eagles with an all-around score of 39.075, securing first place overall. She shined on floor, earning a meet-best 9.875, while also tying for first on bars with a 9.825. Boris added strong performances on beam (9.725, tied for fourth) and vault (9.650).
On vault, sophomore Genae Daniel (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) took the title with a personal-best 9.825, followed closely by senior Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy), who placed second with a 9.800. Sophomore Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) and senior Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) tied for fourth, each scoring 9.750.
The Eagles dominated the bars event with Boris (9.825) sharing the top spot. Senior Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) and freshman Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) tied for third, both scoring 9.800, with Solorio cracking the lineup in her first career meet. Junior Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) placed seventh with a 9.725, while freshman Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) notched a 9.650 in EMU debut.
On beam, Solorio and Lowe tied for second with matching scores of 9.750. Boris and sophomore Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) each posted a 9.725, tying for fourth.
Floor exercise saw Boris claim first with her standout 9.875. Junior Priya Karle's (Canton, Mass./Canton) personal-best 9.775 earned her a tie for second. Chemotti and exhibition performer Gianna Antonio (Novi, Mich./South Lyon East) tied for seventh with 9.700 scores.
