YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1999 as senior Maddie O'Farrell's 17th-minute goal lifted the Eagles past Purdue Fort Wayne, 1-0, Thursday, Aug. 29, at Scicluna Field.
How It Happened
Off dishes from redshirt freshman Josie Langhans (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and sophomore Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina), O'Farrell (Haslett, Mich./Lansing Catholic) slotted home a left-footed strike from the left wing in the 17th minute.
PFW nearly found the equalizer in the 56th minute but the Mastodon strike clanked off the crossbar before being cleared by the Eagles.
Redshirt sophomore Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) made three saves to earn her third clean sheet of the season.
The Eagles won the battle in shots by a 13-10 margin, and in corner kicks by a 9-0 margin.
