Men's and Women's Track & Field Tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

Along with the teams, nine student-athletes qualified for the honor as individuals

NEW ORLEANS, La. (EMUEagles.com) – All-Academic Teams for the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field seasons were announced on Monday, July 15 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both the Eastern Michigan men's and women's teams made the list, along with nine student-athletes.
 
In order to qualify as a team, the team must post a cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, certifiable by either NCAA Faculty Rep or NCAA Compliance Coordinator or Registrar's Office.
 
The men's team was named to the list via its 3.26 cumulative GPA in the 2023-24 season, along with six individual honorees. To make the list as an individual, you must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Athletic criteria for the award requirements can be found below.

For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on final season performance lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).

For the outdoor season: must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I.
 
Making the list as individuals from the men's team is Ronnie Brandal, Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), Ryan Johnson (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro), Jake McEachern (Lloydminster, Alberta/Lloydminster Comprehensive), Callum Robinson, and Almighty Williamson.
Brandal compiled a 3.7833 cumulative GPA and competed in the 800m at the NCAA East First Round Prelims in Lexington, Ky. Joining Brandal as student-athletes who made their athletic qualification at the east first round prelims is Johnson, McEachern, and Williamson.
 
Johnson currently holds a 3.9926 GPA and holds the nation's 18th-best weight throw from the indoor season, as he sent one 22.24m (72-11.75) at the MAC Indoor Championships, Feb. 23. He also competed at the NCAA East First Round Prelims in the hammer throw. Along with Johnson, fellow freshman thrower, McEachern, totals a 3.412 GPA and also tossed in the hammer throw at the NCAA East First Round Prelims.

Williamson brought his 3.75647 GPA to the table, along with the 25th-fastest 110m hurdles time in the country, as he set an EMU program record and MAC Outdoor Championships record in the event with a 13.53 run.
Individual representatives from the women's squad include Miranda Cadwell, Esme Davies, and Anita Zaro (Timisoara, Romania/Faculty of Physical Education and Sport).

Cadwell finished her collegiate career with a 3.2833 GPA while seeing action at the NCAA East First Round Prelims. Davies concluded her time in Ypsilanti with a 3.75397 GPA and Zaro finished the 2023-24 academic year notching a clean 4.00000. Both Davies and Zaro competed at the NCAA East First Round Prelims, as Davies ran in the 5,000m and 10,000m, while Zaro saw action in the 3,000m steeplechase.
