Track & Field Lands 24 on Outdoor Academic All-MAC List

17 members of the women’s team made the list and seven members of the men’s squad
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University track and field programs landed 23 student-athletes on the Mid-American Conference's Academic All-MAC list for the 2024 outdoor season, the conference office announced Wednesday, June 5.
The women's team saw 16 student-athletes earn the award while seven members of the men's squad made the list. 228 total student-athletes garnered the honor conference-wide.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
For the women, Kent State University led the way with 29 student-athletes. Miami University had 21 selections of their own, while Bowling Green State University followed with 19 honorees.
Earning the honor from the women's team is Isabella Brent (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child), Aleah Johnson (Botkins, Ohio/Botkins), Miranda Cadwell (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South), Esme Davies (Lake District, England/Queen Elizabeth Grammar School), Tijana Japundzic (Belgrade, Serbia/Technical School "New Belgrade"), Marta Moreno (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of The Hague), Chloie Musta (Mesick, Mich./Cadillac), Maleah Scott (Farmington, Minn./Farmington), Tabatha Walford (Northamptonshire, England/Bishop Stopford/Nevada), Cara Weber (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle), Natalie Buratczuk (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North), Alyson Davis (Summerfield, N.C./Weaver Academy for Performing and Visual Arts), Elise Gregory (Crystal lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge), Maura Lane (Cary, N.C./Panther Creek/Campbell), Fleur van der Linden (Drunen,Netherlands/d'Oultremont College), Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy), and Safeya Woolcock (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception).
On the men's side, the University at Buffalo led the way with 14 student-athletes. Kent State had 13 selections, while Miami followed with 10.
Earning the nod for the Eastern men is Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix), Linus Vennemann (Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany/Gymnasium "In der Wüste"), Ronnie Brandal (Huron, Ohio/Huron), Brendan Hill (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), Kyle Martin (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron), Brady Messer (Mason, Ohio/Mason), and Almighty Williamson (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor/Barton C.C.).
For the 2023-24 academic year, three individuals, Peterson, Moreno, and Musta earned the award for the cross country season, along with both the indoor and outdoor track & field campaigns.
Moreover, 11 members from the women's team were also tabbed with the award in the indoor season, while each of the seven award winners from the men's team also made the list for the indoor months.
