ANCASTER, Ontario (EMUEagles.com) – Former Eastern Michigan University golfers Michael Blair and Cam Kellett made their presence felt in round one of the PGA Tour's RBC Canadian Open Thursday, May 30, at Hamilton Golf and Country Club. Kellett impressed with a two-under-par 68, in a tie for 20th place, while Blair finished the day with an even-par 72 in 95th place.
Round two of the RBC Canadian Open is set to take place on Friday, May 31. The tournament features a strong contingent of 28 Canadian players aiming to continue the country's recent success following Nick Taylor's thrilling playoff victory over Tommy Fleetwood last year.
David Skinns surged to the solo lead late Thursday, posting a bogey-free, eight-under 62, placing him one stroke ahead of Sam Burns and Sean O'Hair. Robert MacIntyre trails by two strokes after shooting a 64, while two-time RBC Canadian Open champion Rory McIlroy is four strokes off the pace at four-under.
Friday's round will be televised on the Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. ET. Coverage continues on Saturday with the Golf Channel from 2:30-5:30 p.m. ET, followed by CBS from 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET. Sunday's final round starts on the Golf Channel from 1:30-2:30 p.m. ET, then transitions to CBS from 2:30-6:30 p.m. ET.
Blair earned his spot in the tournament by shooting a two-under 68 during Monday's qualifier at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course). Kellett secured his exemption in spectacular fashion, setting a new course record with a six-under 64 at Tarandowah Golfers Club, topping the leaderboard to book his place in Canada's National Open Championship.
