YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team rallied to score three in the ninth inning and walked it off on sophomore Drew Jones' two-run double to pick up the 10-9 win over the Bowling Green State University Falcons Friday, May 10, at Oestrike Stadium.

Junior Mat Sanfilippo (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder/Niagara C.C.) (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Eastern, recording a pivotal strikeout with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning.

At the plate, the Eagles were paced by senior Kyle Schroedele (Redding, Calif./University Prep/Crown College), who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run, a walk and three RBI.

Jones (Cleveland, Ohio/Brush/Ohio State) put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Senior Blake McRae (Armada, Mich./Romeo/Lansing C.C.) also contributed for Eastern Michigan, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.

How it Happened
Trailing 4-0, the Eagles first put runs on the board in the second inning. Eastern Michigan plated two runs when Schroedle left the yard with senior Cory Taylor (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville) aboard.

The Eagles kept the Falcons off the board before narrowing the gap further in the third. Eastern Michigan scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Taylor, which tightened the Falcons lead to 4-3.

EMU kept the Falcons off the board before rallying to snatch a 6-4 lead in the fourth, first grabbing the lead off an RBI single from Giano Zuccaro (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/Berea Midpark/Charleston).

Eastern Michigan surrendered the lead they built in the fourth, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 8-6. The Eagles scored once on an RBI single off the bat of McRae, bringing the score to 8-7 in favor of Bowling Green.

Bowling Green extended their lead to 9-7 before Eastern Michigan rallied to score three times in the bottom half of the ninth to claim victory, culminating in Jones' two-run walk-off double.

» Sanfilippo earned his first Division I win on the mound as he entered the game in relief effort in the top of the ninth to get the pivotal last out of the inning via the strikeout.
