YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Seniors from the 2023 Eastern Michigan University football team worked out for professional scouts at EMU's Indoor Practice Facility today, March 14.
Numerous scouts from the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) visited the event, allowing the former EMU players to showcase their talents in drills and exercises that mirror the NFL Scouting Combine.
The prospects were timed in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttles, and a three-cone drill before going through position work. Other measurable drills held earlier in the day included the bench press, broad jump, and vertical jump. The prospects also went through a flexibility test and had their height, weight, hand width, arm length, and wing span measured by personnel from NFL teams.
Steven Bird, Londyn Craft, Brian Dooley, Hamze El Zayat, Samson Evans, Adrian Gonzalez, Chase Kline, Tanner Knue, and Aaron Jackson participated in the pro day drills.
The nine players hope to hear their name called over the three days of the 2024 NFL Draft, April 25-27, at Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza in Detroit. EMU has had numerous players selected in recent drafts; Darius Jackson in 2016, Pat O'Connor in 2017, and Maxx Crosby in 2019.
Last year, multiple Eastern Michigan football student-athletes had their dreams at the 2023 NFL Draft as Sidy Sow, Jose Ramirez, and Chad Ryland were selected. EMU was the only team in the Mid-American Conference with multiple draft picks in 2023.
Those who are undrafted will look to join the likes of two-time Super Bowl Champion Andrew Wylie (2020, 2023) and 2021 Super Bowl Champ Pat O'Connor on the list of undrafted EMU student-athletes to have NFL success during Chris Creighton's tenure (2014-Pres.).
