MAC Releases Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll

The Eagles will begin their season Friday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. CT against the Belmont Bruins
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) released its baseball preseason poll for the upcoming 2024 season today, Feb. 13. The poll, which is voted on by all MAC baseball coaching staffs, sees the Eagles selected to finish ninth in the conference.
The Golden Flashes of Kent State University were picked to finish first in the regular season with eight first-place votes and 98 points overall, followed by Ball State University, who garnered three first-place votes and 93 points.
Following Kent State and Ball State is Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University with 68 and 67 points, respectively. Ohio University, the University of Toledo, and Miami University are slotted in the No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7 spots, with 61, 60, and 59 points, respectively.
Bowling Green State University was picked to place eighth with 36 points, followed by first-year Head Coach Robbie Britt's Eastern Michigan University Eagles in ninth with 29 points.
Northern Illinois University and the University of Akron round out the voting as NIU was picked to finish 10th with 22 points and Akron 11th with 12 points.
The top six teams at the end of the regular-season will qualify for the annual MAC Tournament, beginning Wednesday, May 22, in Avon, Ohio, where the champion will punch their ticket to the NCAA Regional round of the playoffs.
Following suit with the regular season voting, Kent State led the way with eight votes to place first in the MAC Tournament, followed by Western Michigan with two, and Ball State with one.
