John Carmichael, Cole Egan, John Hale, Bruce Jellison, and TJ Williams earned the accolade

GREENWOOD, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University baseball student-athletes John Carmichael, Cole Egan, John Hale, Bruce Jellison, and TJ Williams were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday, June 2.

The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the green and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To make the list, student-athletes had to post a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale. Participation wise, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Carmichael (Destrehan, La./Destrehan/McLennan C.C.) made the list via his 4.00 GPA while majoring in sports management. He served as the Eagles' Friday starter throughout the season and allowed just three runs in his final 21.2 innings of the year. Egan's (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny/George Mason) accolade comes after posting a 3.60 GPA in general studies while appearing in a team-high 24 contests, as he played a role in a combined 4-0 shutout win against Ohio, May 14. Hale (Ashland City, Tenn./Sycamore/Motlow State C.C.) earned the honor with a 3.65 GPA in general studies after seeing action in 51 games and knocked a career-high 19 extra-base hits. Jellison (Hartland, Mich./Hartland/Wabash Valley) holds a 3.63 GPA in general studies and appeared in 49 contests, while recording a team-long 12-game hitting streak from March 20 to April 11. Williams (Racine, Wis./Racine Horlick/Kansas) finished with a 3.83 GPA in general studies with 40 appearances on the season and led the Eagles with 14 stolen bases.

Overall, the five honors bring EMU baseball's total to 31 all-time as 26 different student-athletes have earned the prestigious award since 2002.
