BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team will continue Mid-American Conference play Saturday, Feb. 3 in Buffalo, N.Y. The Eagles are slated to face the Bulls of the University at Buffalo for just the 33rd time in program history. With a 16-16 all-time record between the two schools, Saturday's contest will determine what team will hold the upper hand in the series dating back to 1993.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a 6 p.m. tip inside Alumni Arena where Paul Peck and Matt Mattia will have the call. Fans can also follow the action via live stats at EMUEagles.com/livestats. Additionally, the team's official Twitter account, @EMUWBB, will provide score updates throughout the contest.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP
The Eagles and the Bulls are slated to meet for just the 33rd time in program history, the least versus any MAC foe. The two schools hold an even 16-16 all-time record against one another with Saturday's contest determining who will hold the upper hand in the series.
   Dating back to 1993, the two teams have had their own span of dominance against the other. EMU held a nine-game win streak over the Bulls from 2004-2010 before UB went on its most recent stretch of eight straight wins over the Eagles from 2017-2023. However, EMU claimed the victory in their most recent meeting with the Bulls, a 61-57 home triumph, Feb. 23, 2023. 
 
ABOUT THE BULLS
Standing 11-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play, the Bulls welcome the Green and White after dismantling the Bobcats of Ohio University in its most recent contest, 81-63, in Athens, Ohio. The Bulls have found success when playing at home, holding an 8-3 record in such games. UB currently ranks fifth in the league and is averaging 67.9 points and 37.0 boards per game, while allowing an average of 64.0 points and 37.6 rebounds per game.
 
BACK IN #MACTION
The Green and White's 2023-24 campaign marks the 43rd season Eastern Michigan will compete as a member of the Mid-American Conference. Playing a league schedule since the 1981-82 campaign, EMU has compiled a 307-408 record against conference opponents all-time.
 
NATIONALLY RANKED TAYRA
Tayra Eke's 2.16 blocks per game is good for first in the MAC and 23rd nationally. Of 250 total players ranked in the category, only three other players are members of the MAC, with Eke holding the highest ranking.

MYLES IN THE RANKINGS
Kennedi Myles ranks second in the MAC with her 8.4 rebounds per game and third in total rebounds with 160. Additionally, her 1.79 steals per game is good for seventh in the league.
 
FINDING TREASURE
Treasure Thompson found herself in the starting five for the third time this season and just the fourth in her career at EMU. The junior posted eight points against the Broncos, marking the fifth time in her career with eight or more points in a game, and earned a season-high four assists in the loss to WMU, Jan. 31, three shy of her career high seven, set against Grace Christian, Nov. 18, 2021.
   It was the first time Thompson had posted three or more helpers in a single game this season and just the second of her career after providing seven against Grace Christian. 
 
CONSECUTIVE WESTY
Olivia Westphal drained a single three in the contest with WMU, Jan. 31. The junior has recorded a single make from beyond the three in four consecutive games for the first time in her career. It was her 16th made triple as an EMU Eagle and the 22nd of her career. 
 
SHARP-SHOOTING SMITH
Olivia Smith connected on one shot from beyond the arc in the contest versus WMU, Jan. 31. It was the 15th contest this season in which Smith has made a single three-pointer. Last season, the then-rookie led the team in triples recording a single make in 25 total games. Her longest streak of consecutive games with a made triple was 13 (Dec. 17, 2022- Feb. 1, 2023).
 
AUSTIN'S PETTY-THEFT
Lachelle Austin recorded four steals in the game against WMU, Jan. 31, marking just the second time this season she has collected three or more in a single game and the 15th of her career. The last time the junior recorded the feat was when she earned three against the University of Toledo, Jan. 6. Additionally, her four picks ties her career-high for the fourth time.
 
DARA'S STARTING DEBUT
Dara Capaldi earned her first collegiate start in the game with the Broncos, Jan. 31. The Michigan native posted four points, two assists, and one steal in her career-high 18 minutes of play.
 
RUNNING FOR MYLES
Kennedi Myles led the Green and White in the setback to Western Michigan, Jan. 31, with 13 points. It was her sixth double-digit point's performance of the season and the 32nd of her career. The graduate student has scored 13-plus points just three times this season and 15 times in her five-year career.
 
TRACKING TAYRA
After her four rebounds against the Broncos, Jan. 31, Tayra Eke sits just 72 boards away from her career milestone 500. Additionally, the junior is just 13 blocks away from her career milestone 150.
 
BOARD GAMES
Eastern out-rebounded WMU, 31-27, Jan. 31. It marked the 10th contest the Eagles have collected more boards than its opponent, going 5-5 in such games.
   Last season, the Eagles defeated their opponent in the rebound battle a total of 16 times, going 10-6.
 
THE BLOCKING BATTLE
EMU won the blocking battle against the Broncos, 3-1. It was the ninth time this season the Eagles have out-blocked their opponent. Additionally, the team's 4.05 blocks per game ranks second in the league. Last season, the team recorded more blocks than its foe in 19 contests.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Eastern will continue conference play as it readies to play host to the University of Akron Zips, Wednesday, Feb. 7, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The contest is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
