MAC Releases 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Coaches Poll

Eagles selected 11th in the league standings in a vote of the conference’s head coaches

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference announced the 2024-25 MAC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll Tuesday, Oct. 22, with Eastern Michigan University earning 23 points for 11th on the list. The poll was compiled by the MAC following votes from all 12 head coaches in the league.
Ball State University earned 10-of-12 first place votes to accumulate 120 points and sit atop the poll with Kent State University receiving the other two first-place votes to tally 104 points for second. The top five is rounded out by the University at Buffalo (98 points), Bowling Green State University (96), and the University of Toledo (82).
Both Northern Illinois University and Ohio University received 64 points to tie for sixth with Miami University (44), the University of Akron (43), Western Michigan University (34), EMU, and Central Michigan University (20) rounding out the poll. Additionally, the coaches voted on who they felt would win the MAC Tournament with BSU earning eight votes while BGSU, UB, KSU, and UT each received one vote.
The Eagles are set to embark on a new era with Sahar Nusseibeh taking over the head coaching duties for the program in 2024-25. A three-year head coach at Canisius University, Nusseibeh is no stranger to the MAC after serving in assistant coaching capacities at both Miami and BGSU previously. The first game for the Eagles under Nusseibeh comes Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center when the Texas State University Bobcats visit town for the first leg of the 2024-25 MAC/SBC Challenge. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
