DEKALB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team traveled to DeKalb, Ill. to compete against Mid-American Conference opponents Northern Illinois University and Central Michigan University Sunday, Jan. 28, inside the Convocation Center. The meet is marked as a regular season contest for the Green and White and does not count towards the conference record. 
 
The Eagles (3-3, 0-1 MAC) finished with a 195.700 team score securing their second straight win of the season as well as their highest team score in the 2024 campaign. The overall team score topped their previous season-best, a 195.325 score against University of Wisconsin-Stout, Jan. 21. 
 
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) finished first on three of four events, claiming the top all-around gymnast title. 
 
How It Happened
The Eagles began on beam where the team scored a 48.725. EMU was led by Raisa Boris who posted a 9.875, tying her career high on the event and snatching first place. Trinity Macy (Rowlett, Texas/Texas Connections Academy/Pittsburgh) was also among the top two Eagles earning a career high 9.800 to secure second place on the apparatus. 
 
Eastern moved onto the floor for their second rotation where they were once again led by Raisa Boris. Boris earned a career high 9.925 to tie for first place in the event. The second-highest scoring Eagle went to rookie Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Arena), who tied her career high of 9.850. Overall, the team scored a 48.925 on the event. 
 
EMU's third rotation took the team to the vault where the Green and White scored a season high 49.125. They were led by Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) who secured a personal best 9.925 on the apparatus as well as first place on the event.Two more Eagles earned career highs as Abby Brushwood grabbed a 9.850 taking fourth place on the event, while Gwendelyn Cantu (Joilet, Ill./Providence Catholic) scored a 9.800 for a new best. 
 
Eastern Michigan finished the meet on bars with a 48.925, the team's second highest score on the event this season. The Green and White were led by Raisa Boris with a season high 9.850 and Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) with a 9.825, taking first and second place on the apparatus. 
 
The win marked the third of the 2024 campaign and the first over the Huskies since the 2021 season. However, the last time the Eagles defeated the Chippewas was in the 2022 season.
