Acuff Scores 30 Points in Loss at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Tyson Acuff (Detroit, Mich./Cass Technical/Duquesne) netted 30 points for the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team as the Eagles fell, 85-67, at Ohio University Saturday, Jan. 20, inside the Convocation Center. The game served as the nightcap of an EMU-OU doubleheader that featured both schools' men's and women's programs.
Acuff recorded his sixth career game with at least 30 points.
How It Happened
EMU held a 13-10 lead through six minutes before Ohio used a 30-12 run to take a 46-28 lead into halftime.
Ohio extended its advantage to as many as 38 points at 82-44 with 7:16 left prior to EMU's 20-1 run to close the game.

» Eastern moved to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in Mid-American Conference play while Ohio moved to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.
» Eastern Michigan was 26-of-63 (41.3%) from the floor and 5-of-19 (26.3%) from three-point range while Ohio was 31-of-55 (56.4%) from the field and 11-of-23 (47.8%) from deep.

» Redshirt sophomore Javantae Randle (Detroit, Mich./Frederick Douglas) converted at least one field goal for the second-straight game after his first made field goal of the season against Ball State University, Jan. 16. Randle was 4-for-6 at Ohio.
» Randle equaled his career high with eight points in the game. Randle also scored eight points against Bowling Green State University, Jan. 3, 2023.
» Randle played a career-high 14 minutes, topping his previous high of 12 minutes played at Northern Illinois University, March 3, 2023.
» EMU has blocked at least one shot in the last 15 games as Randle swatted away a lay-up in the second half for the first of two EMU blocks. The Eagles last went without a block against then-10th-ranked Florida Atlantic University, Nov. 14.
» Eastern, which hit five threes against Ohio, has now hit at least one triple in 600-straight games. EMU last failed to score from downtown Jan. 24, 2004, when Miami University held the Eagles to 0-of-7 from behind the arc.
