Kellett Takes Fifth at River Run Collegiate in 2023-24 Debut

DAVIDSON, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario/Saint Thomas Aquinas/Nevada) posted the lowest round of his collegiate career, firing a three-under 207 (70-68-69) at the River Run Collegiate. The London, Ontario, native picked up his fourth career top-five showing, taking fifth-place at the par 70, 6,871 yard River Run Country Club.
Kellett bettered his previous 54-hole standard of 209 at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, Sept. 12-13, 2022. Overall, the two-day tally is tied for the seventh-lowest three round tournament score in program history.
Eastern Michigan finished sixth as a team with a cumulative score of 855 (282-285-288). The total is tied for ninth-lowest in EMU history and marks the best score by the Green and White since posting an 850 to open the 2022-23 campaign in Marshall, Sept. 12-13.
Radford took home the team title with a three-round mark of 834 (279-279-276), while East Carolina (839), Delaware (844), and Davidson (844) followed closely behind. ECU's Carter Busse, who captured medalist honors with a 200 total (68-64-68).
How It Happened
Freshman Avery Mahoney (Burlington, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School) made a splash in his collegiate debut, finishing 10th with a two-day total of 210 (65-73-72). Mahoney fired an opening round 65, one stroke off the school's 18-hole record of 64 which has been accomplished six previous times. Senior Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) tied for 25th with a 216 (72-71-73), while sophomore Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta/HJ Cody) finished 48th after rounds of 75, 73, and 74 for a 222. Sophomore Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) rounded out the scoring with a 232 (84-73-75) in 78th.
