Kellett Named GCAA All-America Scholar

The senior from London, Ontario earned it for the first time
NORMAN, Okla. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario/Saint Thomas Aquinas/Nevada) was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-America Scholar, the organization announced today, Aug. 9.
All told, 548 NCAA Division I athletes from 194 schools earned 2022-23 GCAA All-America Scholar honors.
Kellett was selected Second Team All-MAC in 2023 by the league's head coaches after leading the Eagles' scoring efforts throughout the season with a 73.79 stroke average. His 18-hole average is tied for 27th-best in program history.
The London, Ontario, native tied for fifth at the MAC Championship, April 30-May 2, with an even-par 216 (73-71-72). It marked his second top-five finish of the 2022-23 campaign. Overall, it marked the best finish by an Eagle at the league's championship event since 2019 when Zach Sudinsky also placed fifth with a 145 (74-71=145).
For his efforts, Kellett also earned All-Tournament honors from the league for the first time in his career.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
